The Authors Den is an outreach effort organized to promote literacy and the Performing Arts throughout the State of New Jersey. The foundation of literacy and art in the state is deteriorating. Funds have been cut from Education, Performing Arts and After School Programs all of which provide support to our schools. Sadly the communities within our state are losing a fundamental element necessary to compete nationwide. I Pen Books has collaborated with Poeticvibez to organize The Authors Den. We understand the importance of literacy and that it is the foundation to all we do. Reading, Writing and Arithmetic has always been the platform for a good education. We are losing two of those components and without them the fire and desire to learn will eventually be gone forever. Several cities within the state of New Jersey as well as other states throughout this nation are shutting the doors on their libraries, a resource and vibrant connection for many communities to the Arts. Schools are being challenged by state officials but given little or no tools to assist in the learning process. Overcrowding the classrooms with youth, cutting the staff and/or their salaries and reducing after school programs have led our youth to seek these resources and activities out of the school environment. After school programs have become temporary day care settings, many with no structure and no emphasis on Reading, Writing or the Performing Arts. The Authors Den is recognizing the need for funding, scholarships, and involvement for those affected states and communities. We would like to bring those resources, funds and connections back to the community. We are currently seeking those that understand the need and are willing to be a part of this climb to a successful venture by means of support or participation. We are seeking those who wish to give back to the community and gain as the event works to educate youth, adults and each other.
We are calling for all: Authors, Poets, Publishers, Editors, Reviewers, and others from the literary world. We are also seeking those who are in the Performing Arts: Musicians, Vocalist, Comedians, and Praise Dancers. These people of talent will be invited to showcase their work each month. Publishers, Editors, and Reviewers you will be chosen from time to time to sit on our chat panels and provide information to our audience. It is our hope that with you giving them the true information about honing their craft we will get those who will start publishing or seeking to publish their work with an education of what the publishing industry is about. It is our goal for the panels to visit schools, groups at libraries and community settings. Poets, you will be asked to perform your work on the night of the event. You will be told at that time how many poems you will recite and given the opportunity to sell your CD’s on the poets table (shared space). All others who are in the category of Performing Artist, you will be asked when needed to be a part of the events hosted by The Authors Den. At this time only 10 Authors and 10 poets/preforming artist will be selected. There is no financial compensation at this time for any participants of The Authors Den. Those of you selling your items, it is our hope that you would promote the event and encourage an audience to attend. Those of you providing a service to us, as indicated, will be giving back to the community by sharing your knowledge and talents.We encourage you to spread the word about our events.
The Authors Den is an upscale event. It will be held in various locations throughout the Tri-State area with hopes to move throughout the east coast and beyond. The event will include an evening of entertainment, authors, poets, panelists and the audience. There will be a commentator/moderator for the the evening. Proceeds for the event after cost will be held in trust and donated during the year to identified programs for literacy. There will be many opportunities for you as well as our audience and community to identify those programs in need of donations. These programs will be reviewed by the staff and the recipient will be presented the donation at one of our events.

You will be contacted by a staff member of I Pen Books or Poetic Vibez regarding your payment and participation. At this time you will be given the location and date of your appearance. You will also be asked to submit any comments or suggestions to assist in our effort to promote the program and literacy throughout the community.
